Il Ritorno alle Radici con Pino Carella: Italian Migration Event 31 October 2025 in Adelaide, South Australia
The Federazione dei Calabrese del Sud Australia proudly presents the premier event celebrating Italian migration in South Australia. All members of the public are welcome. Also, your organisation can officially participate in the event.
It is with great pride that we annouce the visit of Italian television personality Pino Carella to South Australia this October. He is a presenter on terrestrial television station Tele Mia, a part of the Media Società Cooperativa Arl group which broadcasts in southern Italy and worldwide over every social channel and by Direct TV streaming. His programme focusses on Italian migration: both from the Italian perspective from where migrants left; and from the perspective of the countries to which Italian immigrants arrive and settle. Australia was a major destination of post-war migrants from Italy, particularly from southern Italy, as well as the Veneto region, therefore; Australia is an important part of the Italian story and Pino, whose programme is called Radici (Roots) is filming a special on Italians in Adelaide while he is here in October, which will air on Italian TV as a Christmas special.
As Adelaide is home to a very large number of Italians and their descendants, many of whom originated from southern and central Italy, plus Veneto; all the filming will take place in Adelaide as representative of all Italian immigrants in Australia. And because the television station’s headquarters are based in Calabria, the Federazione dei Calabrese del Sud Australia in collaboration with a group of dedicted Italian community leaders, are bringing Pino to Adelaide on behalf of the entire Italian community, with the intent that we Italian Australians showcase the best of our community to Pino, who will create content that demonstrates our people, our achievements, our institutions and clubs...and how we continue to keep alive Italian culture and traditions today, despite seventy years of time passing and the growth of two or more generations of Australian-born Italians separating life in post-war Italy, versus modern life in Adelaide.

Today, people of Italian heritage represent the largest ethnic group in Australia as descendants from post-war immigrants, with some 150,000 people in Adelaide being of Italian descent. In South Australia in particular, Italian culture is alive and well and meticulously maintained by a number of well-organised Italian clubs and associations that represent the various regions of Italy from which our immigrants originated. The largest of these regional groups include people from Calabria (particularly from Caulonia, Sinopoli, Taurianova, Carere and Varapodio). There are also large groups of Italians in Adelaide from other regions such as the Naples region, the Abruzzu region, the Veneto region, from Melfetta and Puglia, and from Sicily.
Associations representing the needs of Italian immigrants are numerous. On Friday 31 October 2025, we will be holding an important event in the history of Italian and Calabrian migration to South Australia. It is 70 years since the beginning of post-war migration of Italians to Australia and the Italian community in Adelaide has grown in both size and influence, having surpassed the dreams of those early migrants who left an impoverished nation ravaged by war, to seek a better life in a far away land called Australia. Despite the lack of financial resources or English language, our parents and grandparents worked hard to make something special of their future, and to help Italian culture, Italian food, and Italian style to become highly sought after by mainstream Australians. Italian Australians have reached to the top of all industries and spheres, including politics, where the current Prime Minister of Australia Mr Anthony Albanese is himself, the son of an Italian.
The event Il Ritorno Alle Radici Con Pino Carella, on the evening of Friday 31 October 2025 is a tribute to Italian immigration to South Australia, to recognise and honour the various groups of Italians that are represented in Adelaide. The event will be held right in the heart of Adelaide’s Italian community, at the Festival Function Centre at 292 Findon Rd, Findon. The general public, Italian immigratnts, the family of Italian immigrants, as well as leaders of all the varioud Italian regions are invited to attend this milestone celebration of the Italian story of Australia. There will be live entertainment, an exhibition of Italian history, plus an exqisite four course meal (we can cater for speciifc dietary requirements - please let us know in advance so our chefs can accommodate your needs). There will also be demonstrations by school students across Adelaide, plus a special guest appearance by singer Angela Cutrì, pianist Steven Cavallo, and piano accordian player Massimo Cavallo.
There will also be dancing performances, music performances, art displays, historical exhibitions, and Italian language demonstrations by people from South Australia, including by school students, operatic choirs, music groups, art schools, dancing troupes, community groups, Italian Associations, drama schools and other organisations. But the highlight of the evening will be Italian television presenter Pino Carella. Pino and his TV crew have recently travelled Calabria, filming the villages and families our Nonni and parents left behind, showing how Calabria has transformed over 70 years. On the evening, we will screen his incredible work and he will share with us the stories of the families in Calabria that our migrants left behind when they came to Australia. Pino has interviewed these people and not only we will see them in his film, but he will tell us how they feel about us in Australia, generations after their loved ones left Italy. See your relatives and paesani send greetings, and be amazed what your paese looks like today.
Older migrants in Australia will love seeing where they were born, how it’s changed and people they remember - and Australian born Italians will be amazed as they finally see the very villages they families come from, as they exist today.

Adelaide has an anormous number of migrants from Italy, especially southern Italy, as well as the Veneto region, so is of major importance to Pino, who will be in Adelaide this October and September filming a documentary on Italians in Adelaide, which will be broadcast on Italian TV on Christmas night.

We want to hear from you and your organisation, and give you a platform at the event to share your talents, your contributions to Italian culture in South Australia, and to present to the world some of the leaders in the Italian community who work to keep our culture alive for future generations to enjoy.

Il suo programma si concentra sulla migrazione italiana: sia dalla prospettiva italiana di dove sono partiti i migranti; sia dalla prospettiva dei paesi in cui gli immigrati italiani sono arrivati e si sono stabiliti. Sono passati 70 anni dall'inizio della migrazione post-bellica degli italiani in Australia, e la comunità italiana ad Adelaide è cresciuta sia in dimensioni che in influenza, superando i sogni di quei primi migranti che lasciarono una nazione povera e devastata dalla guerra per cercare una vita migliore in una terra lontana chiamata Australia. Nonostante la mancanza di risorse finanziarie e la lingua inglese, i nostri genitori e nonni hanno lavorato duramente per costruire qualcosa di speciale per il loro futuro e per far sì che la cultura, il cibo e lo stile italiani diventassero molto richiesti anche dagli australiani. L'evento Il Ritorno Alle Radici con Pino Carella, che si terrà la sera di venerdì 31 ottobre 2025, è un tributo alla migrazione italiana in Australia del Sud, per riconoscere e onorare i vari gruppi di italiani che sono rappresentati ad Adelaide. L'evento si terrà nel cuore della comunità italiana di Adelaide, al Festival Function Centre, in 292 Findon Rd, Findon. Il pubblico generale, gli immigrati italiani, le famiglie degli immigrati italiani e i leader di tutte le varie regioni italiane sono invitati a partecipare a questa celebrazione di pietra miliare della storia italiana in Australia. Ci sarà intrattenimento dal vivo, una mostra sulla storia italiana, oltre a una cena squisita di quattro portate (possiamo soddisfare richieste dietetiche specifiche - per favore informateci in anticipo in modo che i nostri chef possano accogliere le vostre necessità). Ma il momento culminante della serata sarà il presentatore televisivo italiano Pino Carella. Pino e il suo cameraman hanno recentemente viaggiato in Calabria, filmando i villaggi e le famiglie che i nostri nonni e genitori hanno lasciato, mostrando come la Calabria si è trasformata in 70 anni. Durante la serata, proietteremo il suo incredibile lavoro e lui condividerà con noi le storie delle famiglie in Calabria che i nostri migranti hanno lasciato quando sono venuti in Australia. La Federazione dei Calabresi del Sud Australia invita calorosamente scuole, club, associazioni, cori, gruppi musicali, gruppi di danza e individui che apprezzano la cultura italiana, sia attraverso il cibo, la musica, la danza, la lingua, l'arte, la tecnologia, la moda, le automobili, il design, l'architettura, il vino, la storia, l'Antica Roma e l'Impero Romano, le canzoni toscane, napoletane, calabresi o siciliane, o semplicemente per amore dell'Italia e del turismo; a partecipare al nostro evento: Il Ritorno Alle Radici, con Pino Carella.
Il personaggio televisivo italiano Pino Carella, presentatore sulla stazione televisiva terrestre Tele Mia, che trasmette nel sud Italia, ha un programma televisivo chiamato Radici che racconta storie riguardanti la migrazione italiana. Adelaide ospita un numero enorme di migranti provenienti dall’Italia, in particolare dal sud Italia, così come dalla regione del Veneto, ed è di grande importanza per Pino, che sarà ad Adelaide questo ottobre e settembre per girare un documentario sugli italiani ad Adelaide, che andrà in onda in televisione in Italia la notte di Natale.
Adelaide è la casa di un numero molto grande di italiani e dei loro discendenti, che hanno contribuito in modo significativo a plasmare lo status culturale, sociale ed economico dell'Australia del Sud, che tutti gli australiani del sud oggi godono e di cui beneficiano. La stazione televisiva di Pino ha sede in Calabria, quindi la Federazione dei Calabresi del Sud Australia sta portando Pino ad Adelaide a nome dell'intera comunità italiana, affinché il suo documentario, che andrà in onda in Italia, mostri il meglio della nostra comunità, della nostra gente e dei nostri successi, portando visibilità alle nostre scuole e ai nostri studenti talentuosi, alle numerose Associazioni italiane che rappresentano i migranti provenienti da tutte le regioni d'Italia, e mettendo in mostra le nostre istituzioni comunitarie, musicisti, artisti e club... mostrando come continuiamo a mantenere viva la cultura e le tradizioni italiane in Australia, a settant'anni dall'arrivo dei migranti italiani del dopoguerra in Australia. Vogliamo sentire da te e dalla tua organizzazione, e darti una piattaforma all'evento per condividere i tuoi talenti, i tuoi contributi alla cultura italiana in Australia del Sud, e presentare al mondo alcuni dei leader della comunità italiana che lavorano per mantenere viva la nostra cultura per le generazioni future.
Oggi, le persone di origine italiana rappresentano il gruppo etnico più numeroso in Australia, discendenti degli immigrati del dopoguerra, con circa 150.000 persone ad Adelaide di origine italiana. Vogliamo una rappresentanza di Associazioni, gruppi e individui che rappresentano tutte le regioni d'Italia, che siano presenti a questo evento importante, inclusi bambini, giovani e anziani; per mettere Adelaide sotto i riflettori del mondo attraverso il lavoro di Pino. L'evento Il Ritorno Alle Radici con Pino Carella, che si terrà la sera di venerdì 31 ottobre 2025, è un tributo alla migrazione italiana in Australia del Sud, per riconoscere e onorare i vari gruppi di italiani rappresentati ad Adelaide. L'evento si terrà nel cuore della comunità italiana di Adelaide, al Festival Function Centre, in 292 Findon Rd, Findon.
Il presentatore televisivo italiano Pino Carella ha recentemente viaggiato in Calabria, filmando i villaggi e le famiglie che i nostri Nonni e genitori hanno lasciato, mostrando come la Calabria si è trasformata in 70 anni. All'evento proietteremo il suo lavoro e Pino condividerà con noi le storie delle famiglie in Calabria che i nostri migranti hanno lasciato. Ha intervistato queste persone, che vedremo nel film, e Pino ci racconterà cosa pensano di noi in Australia oggi, decenni dopo che i loro cari sono partiti dall’Italia.
All'evento di venerdì 31 ottobre, Pino e il suo cameraman saranno presenti per filmarci, quindi se lo desideri, potrai inviare i tuoi saluti, la tua storia familiare e i tuoi pensieri in Italia, poiché Pino intervisterà le persone presenti all'evento che desiderano essere incluse nel programma speciale che andrà in onda in Italia la notte di Natale di quest'anno. Se non desideri apparire nel documentario, non è un problema, ma coloro che vogliono mettere in mostra la loro scuola, la loro Associazione Italiana, il loro gruppo comunitario, il loro ensemble musicale, o se stessi, sono benvenuti a essere intervistati.

Wine Tour of Barossa Valley: Australia’s Premier Wine Region with Italian Journalist Pino Carella
